Finito for consultants

Every hour on the right file.

You sell advice by the hour or by the engagement. Either way, you want to know how much time a file really takes. Finito tracks your team's hours per client and per engagement, without anyone reconstructing their week on Friday.

30 days free, no meeting or credit card needed. Then from €8 per user per month.

Reconstructing your week doesn't work

Many consultancies ask their people to fill in hours on Friday. Then the guessing starts. How long was that call with the CFO? Did preparing the workshop take three hours or four? Guesses usually get rounded down, because nobody wants to overcharge a client.

Time tracking for consultants works better in the moment. A timer per file, started when you begin, stopped when you switch. On Friday there's nothing left to reconstruct.

Time and materials or fixed fee, you want to know either way

If you bill by the hour

The hours per client and per engagement are ready for invoicing. You create the invoice in your own accounting software, based on the hours.

If you work on a fixed fee

Give the engagement an hours budget. You see along the way where it stands, e.g. 36:00 of 50:00, so 72%, and so whether the fixed fee still holds.

Short tasks count

A twelve-minute call, a quick email with advice. One tap on the timer and it's on the right file.

Hourly rates stay internal

The owner decides per person who sees amounts. A senior leading a file sees the team's hours, but never their cost prices.

One engagement from start to finish

A made-up example: the Strategy track project for a mid-sized family business, sold as a fixed package of 50:00.

Week 1

Intake interviews and analysis. Two consultants record their hours on the project, 14:30 together.

Week 3

Workshops with management. The project is at 36:00, so 72% of the budget, with two workshops and a report still to go.

Week 4

The owner sees the fixed fee won't be enough and discusses an extra session with the client. Better now than at the final report.

Afterwards

You know how many hours this kind of engagement really takes. That's your basis for the next quote.

Long days at the client's

Consultants often work at the client's, with days that run long or an evening presentation. The timer runs on phone and computer, so you record on the spot. If a day differs from the schedule, the owner reviews it: overtime, flexitime, additional hours or no overtime. Many firms use flexitime, which already comes with a registration obligation. How Finito tracks the balances is explained on overtime and flexitime.

At the end of the month you close. The month is locked and the payroll export goes to your social secretariat, never twice.

Time registration becomes the rule

The federal government wants a general obligation to record working time from 1 January 2027. Under the preliminary draft you have until the end of March 2027 if you have no system by then. A time clock isn't mandatory. Exceptions and penalties aren't settled yet, so ask your social secretariat what applies to your firm.
